Weekly Newsletter 10/17/25
October 17th, 2025
Happy Friday! Our Dorena staff are working very hard to ensure that every student is learning at high levels. Our school's value is clear: we believe all of our students are all of our kids. This means the success and well-being of every child in the building is a collective responsibility shared by the school staff, and most importantly, by you, our essential partners. We ask for your ongoing support and collaboration with our dedicated staff. Your efforts at home—checking in, encouraging attendance, and communicating needs—are the vital thread that completes our safety net.
Let’s continue to work side-by-side to ensure that every single one of our students has what they need to succeed.
Announcements:
- Middle School and K/1 Start swimming this upcoming week, every student needs to bring a swimsuit and towel to school on Monday or they will not be able to participate.
 - Our STEAM program officially starts this upcoming week 10/22, 12:30-2:30pm, notices went home this week for students who are signed up. We have about 9 more slots available.
 - We want to give a shout out to our Middle School classroom, we have some exceptional leaders in there that have been volunteering to help in our younger grade classrooms and have been so helpful!
 - We have been offered an opportunity for our current 7th and 8th grade students to join Lincoln Middle School for their bi-annual trip to Washington DC and New York City. Flyers went home with students today, for any student that is even slightly interested please join us at the parent meeting on Thursday 10/23 6pm at Lincoln Middle School.
 - We are looking for volunteers to help with our October 31st PBIS celebration! We need someone to run our cotton candy machine, to run a game station, or a trick or treat station. Please let us know if you are interested. If you have not done so please fill out our volunteer paperwork.
 - We are really impressed with our attendance this month! As a school 88% of our students are attending 90% or more! It is vital that students come to school on time, ALL of our core instruction happens first thing in the morning, so if a student is late they are missing out on vital instruction.
 - Thinking ahead, students are allowed to wear Halloween costumes to school on Halloween, costumes must still adhere to school dress codes- no gore or blood, no profanity, no weapons. Students may wear a mask during recess and the PBIS event only.
