Weekly Newsletter 1/9/26

January 9th, 2026

Welcome back! I hope you and your kiddos had a wonderful break and feel refreshed. We are thrilled to have our students back in the building, and we are ready to dive straight into a productive and rigorous term.

Focusing on Growth This week, we are revisiting our daily routines and classroom expectations. Our goal is to create a structured environment where every minute is dedicated to high-level learning. When our school habits are strong, our students can focus entirely on the "hard work" of growing their minds.

The Power of High Expectations We believe that every child in our care is capable of achieving great things. We hold our students to high standards because we know that when we believe in them, they begin to believe in themselves.

Let’s see just how far we can take our students this year! Thank you for your continued partnership and for trusting us with your child’s education.

Announcements:
  • We are starting our benchmark testing this upcoming, week this testing helps us to determine what progress students are making in reading, writing, math, social and emotional skills and what areas we need to focus and support. Please ensure your student is getting a good night's rest on school nights and comes to school on time so that they are ready to give their best effort.

  • We have started our attendance challenge for January, and it has been a slow start. Each day that a class has only one student absent aAND/OR one student tardy the class will earn a point. On the morning of January 30th the class with the most points will win a Board Game Party!

  • Just a reminder we have to follow the no cell phone state policy if your students brings a cell phone or message send and receiving device to school we ask that they turn in that device to the teacher. All teachers have a bin that is with them all day or in a locked classroom that devices go in.

  • The district has cut down large fir tree in our back field and we wanted to offer it to Dorena staff and families if people want to cut and haul it, please just let us know prior and plan for week days after 3pm and weekends anytime.

  • If your student is in need of a heavy winter coat, Mr. Glenn our Community Care Specialist has some.

  • Lincoln Middle School has invited our Middle school students to their Winter Formal Dance. Mrs. Pixton and Mrs. Molloy will be there helping chaperone. January 30th 6-8pm. Tickets in advance are $15, tickets at the door are $20. We have tickets in the Dorena office for purchase.
