  December 20th, 2024 Happy Friday everyone, Happy Holidays, and Happy Winter break! We hope everyone enjoys their time together and we will see you in the New Year!  Announcements: PBIS Theme: Empathy  Our school community is participating in the 2025 Electronic Recycling Competition! We will be going up against 45 Lane County Schools to recycle the most "e-waste" the winner gets $500 to their school and a NextStep Reuse store gift card! Eligible e-waste includes microwaves, TVs, printers, cords, cables, cell phones, computers, computer accessories (monitors, keyboards, mice, computer speakers, etc., whether in working condition or not), tablets, old or broken game consoles, remotes, and AV equipment (i.e., stereos, speakers, DVD players, etc.). But no plastic, non-electronic items (i.e., toys, vacuums, etc.).We will have a bin here at the school and waste can be dropped up off any time!  Every Friday our classes have "Fun Friday" 1:30-2:30pm, and we would love to ...

  December 13th, 2024 Happy Friday, everyone, we want to thank all of our families affected by this onslaught of illnesses for partnering with us to try to keep all students and staff healthy and well. We know the hardship and toll it can take on a family having to stay home and miss work, and really appreciate your support in helping us follow Lane County Public Health's guidance as we navigate this together. We will continue to update families as new guidance is given to us. Things we are going to help we have been approved for additional nursing time and our District Nurse has been in the building helping to support and is in direct daily contact with LCPH leadership team. We have also been granted additional cleaning time for deeper sanitizing in all of our classrooms. With everyone's help, we are sure to slow the spread of Pertussis in our building,  That being said we are approaching our final week before winter break, we have lots of fun plans and will be working hard t...

  November 22nd, 2024 We are so excited about the Parent-Teacher conferences, it really takes a team to ensure that students can reach their full potential and we couldn't ask for better partners!  We hope you all have a wonderful restful weekend!  Announcements: PBIS Theme: Gratitude We have a no cell phone policy in school, we understand that some students need to bring a phone for transportation and check-ins with parents for go-home plans, we collect each student's phone and keep it safe until the end of the day.  We are not here to tell anyone how to make decisions for their children regarding phone us, technology use, or social media use and wanted to share some resources that might be helpful or informational.   November 8th, 2024 Happy 3.5 day weekend to all of our students and families! We have lots of illness going around right now so lots of rest this weekend! We will see everyone on Tuesday ready to learn, ready to practice our character trait of the money Gratitude, and ready to be safe, respectful, and responsible!  Check out our beautifully completed Structure, we will have an official ceremony for the completion in the Spring when it is not so muddy ๐Ÿ˜‰ Announcements: PBIS Theme: Gratitude Our attendance challenge for ice cream sundaes has begun! Mrs. Beck's 4th/5th class is in the lead with 4 scoops and Mrs. B's is close behind with 2 scoops. We are still waiting for K/1 and MS to get their first scoop.  Our first Donuts and Dodgeball will be 11/15! Every student who has 90% attendance or better since the beginning of October AND not more than 5 office referrals will be eligible to participate.  Sign up forms for conferences will be coming home next week!  Da...

  November 1st, 2024 It is already November! We had a wonderful week celebrating our students who have been Safe, Responsible, and Respectful all week it even involved our first ever staff flash mob! There are lots of wacky days in November with EARLIER releases, conference half days, and no school days. Please call if you every have questions about any of the wacky days coming up!  Announcements: PBIS Theme: Gratitude On November 1st we will have Dorena School Night at the Cottage Grove High School football game! Students get in for free and it is $5 for adults. If your family would REALLY like to come and needs assistance with adult tickets please let us know and we can help. Our football team is one of 2 teams that is UNDEFEATED so it will be an exciting game, some family fun, and a chance for our kids to see the high school they will one day attend!  We will have our first Attendance Challenge starting Friday 11/1!   October 25th, 2024 Happy Friday everyone! We ended our week with a super fun Fall Festival with London School. We feel so honored that they include us in such a fun event. We are so proud of our Dorena students and staff as they really embodied Dorena Pride at the event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped, we appreciate you so much.   October 18th, 2024 Happy Friday everyone! You might hear us talk about being Dorena Proud, in fact it is our Mission Statement: We Are Dorena Proud. This means that we expect everyone from our school community to take pride in their education, in being safe, in being respectful, and in being responsible. This mission doesn't extend just within our building walls but in the community and at home.  We are always reiterating this with all of our students and staff, it means something to be Dorena proud.
