This week has been filled with exciting activities and memorable moments! Highlights include:

Outdoor School Adventures: Students enjoyed fun life lasting experiences at the BEST outdoor school in Oregon.

Fishing Trips: A fantastic experience for our 4th graders, with plenty of stories to share.

Special Person Party: Celebrating those who mean so much to us was a heartwarming event in K/1.

Popsicle Party: A sweet way to end the week with smiles and fun for our Middle School class because Michael W read 1000 minutes last week!
As Mother’s Day approaches, we want to wish all the amazing mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for everything you do.

- PBIS Theme: Organization & Time Management
- Goals:
- I can stay focused on a task with break if needed.
- I can complete my work
- I can keep my school materials and personal items organized in my backpack and/or desk.
- Mrs. Hannah put together a Dorena SWAG order using Eugene Silkscreen. Order forms are in the office, coming home with kids or you can download it here. Forms and funds are due May 16th so that we can get them in before the end of the year! Thanks!
- Next Friday our 2nd-8th grades will be taking a field trip to the Wildlife Safari in Winston Oregon. Our bus will leave at 8:30am and will return around 2:15pm.
- Starting next week we will be partnering with Ophelia's place for lessons on friendship, internet safety, etc. for our 4th/5th grade and MS classroom.
- Next week students in Theater will attend Theater rehearsal M, T, Th, and F 3-5, with a special schedule on Friday. These rehearsals are REQUIRED for all students participating the in play as it is their last week before the big performances!
- Friday 5/17 will be Dorena School Night at the Eugene Emeralds Baseball game at 5pm! students can redeem their tickets online and get into the game for free, if your families needs a couple of extra tickets please let us know. Come out and represent our school!
- Free Family Event Check it out!
- Our Read-a-thon ends this week! Reading Logs and pledge funds are due the week of May 12th. Thank you! We shall see if we meet our goal of 5000 minutes read!

Shop With a Cop: Each year, Sisters in Law partners with local law enforcement agencies to host the annual Shop With a Cop event. I’ve included a link below for registration. If you are interested in this experience for your student please apply here.

- We are looking at FULL capacity in all of our classrooms next year! This is exciting, all students are REQUIRED to turn in a new attendance Exception form if you would like for your student to continue to go to school here. We give priority for current students but you need to turn in the form or else we CANNOT guarantee you a spot. Please see it here. Please do this as soon as possible!
- Need some compost for your garden? We are giving away 1/2 a yard of free compost to Dorena Families, sponsored by our Garden Club. It is located at the rear end of our bus round about, and free for the taking. You load and haul, thank you Dorena Garden club for this generous donation!
- We have various illnesses going around and families asking about when to keep students home, HERE is the Oregon guidelines for symptoms to stay home for.
- Current Afterschool program schedules:
- Garden Club Tuesday and Thursdays 2:30-3:30pm
- Theater (4th-8th) Monday, Tues, Thurs 3:00-4:30pm
- Robotics/Stem Wed 12:30-2:30pm
- WE ARE SO GRATEFUL for our Volunteers!
- We are always looking for more volunteers to help in our school. This year we have a new math curriculum and it requires a lot of prep! We also send home snack packs weeks and need help with assembly. If the activities listed below are something that you are interested in, please stop by our office and pick up a volunteer packet. Processing applications takes about 2 weeks so please get your forms in quickly.
- Helping in the classroom
- Attending and assisting on field trips
- Helping with school events such as assemblies, field day, etc.
