Thank you to all of our families who came out for our Happy and Proud Family night! What a celebration! We hope everyone has a wonderful 3-day weekend! 

Announcements:
  • PBIS Theme: Organization & Time Management 
    • Goals:
      • I can stay focused on a task with break if needed.
      • I can complete my work
      • I can keep my school materials and personal items organized in my backpack and/or desk.
  • Our Read-a-Thon results are in! Although we only had 13 students participate we read a total of 8715 minutes and raised just over $1000! We are so proud and now Mrs. Pixton will spend a night camping out on the roof of the school! 
  • Our May Attendance Challenge will end Tuesday May 27th! So far Mrs. B's class holds the lead by one over Mrs. Beck's class! We will announce the winner Tuesday afternoon. Our winning class will head to the Cottage Grove pool Wed morning for a pool party! 
  • We will end our attendance challenges by celebrating all of the families whose students have 90% or better attendance for the entire year to join us for a Lazer Tag party. Each family will be notified by the end of next week and given a choice on a time on 6/4 to join. 
  • This is the LAST week for our middle school students to earn points to qualify for the annual campout! 
  • We are looking to partner with organizations in our community to bring additional experiences to our school. If you know of any that would like to do classroom presentations, hands-on activities, or join any of our fun school events, please reach out to Mrs. Pixton. 

  • It is time to register for kindergarten! Please click on the link to register

  • We will practice our ALICE emergency drills like we do every month which include a lockdown drill. This week we will also practice our Rally Point drill in which our campus is no longer safe students will evacuate to this location. 

  • Need some compost for your garden? We are giving away 1/2 a yard of free compost to Dorena Families, sponsored by our Garden Club. It is located at the rear end of our bus round about, and free for the taking. You load and haul, thank you Dorena Garden club for this generous donation!

Volunteers
  • WE ARE SO GRATEFUL for our Volunteers! 
  • We are always looking for more volunteers to help in our school. This year we have a new math curriculum and it requires a lot of prep! We also send home snack packs weeks and need help with assembly. If the activities listed below are something that you are interested in, please stop by our office and pick up a volunteer packet. Processing applications takes about 2 weeks so please get your forms in quickly. 
    • Helping in the classroom
    • Attending and assisting on field trips
    • Helping with school events such as assemblies, field day, etc.

  Dear Parents, Guardians, and students of Dorena School,                                                 8-13-2024      It is my greatest pleasure to welcome you to your first or to another wonderful year at Dorena School.   November 22nd, 2024 We are so excited about the Parent-Teacher conferences, it really takes a team to ensure that students can reach their full potential and we couldn't ask for better partners!  We hope you all have a wonderful restful weekend!  Announcements: PBIS Theme: Gratitude We have a no cell phone policy in school, we understand that some students need to bring a phone for transportation and check-ins with parents for go-home plans, we collect each student's phone and keep it safe until the end of the day.  We are not here to tell anyone how to make decisions for their children regarding phone us, technology use, or social media use and wanted to share some resources that might be helpful or informational. Weekly Newsletter 9/13/24

  September 6th, 2024 What a couple of wonderful first days of school, we are excited to celebrate two more first days of school with our kindergartners and our preschoolers next week! We want to thank everyone who came out for our Open House we are so grateful to have such wonderful involved families 💛 . Next week is our first full week of school and we welcome kinders for half days. We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!  Announcements: Oregon state law requires schools to provide students with an opportunity to say the Pledge of Allegiance at least once during each school week.
