Weekly Newsletter 12/13/24

December 13th, 2024

Happy Friday, everyone, we want to thank all of our families affected by this onslaught of illnesses for partnering with us to try to keep all students and staff healthy and well. We know the hardship and toll it can take on a family having to stay home and miss work, and really appreciate your support in helping us follow Lane County Public Health's guidance as we navigate this together. We will continue to update families as new guidance is given to us. Things we are going to help we have been approved for additional nursing time and our District Nurse has been in the building helping to support and is in direct daily contact with LCPH leadership team. We have also been granted additional cleaning time for deeper sanitizing in all of our classrooms. With everyone's help, we are sure to slow the spread of Pertussis in our building,

That being said we are approaching our final week before winter break, we have lots of fun plans and will be working hard to wrap up our reading and math units.

Announcements:
  • PBIS Theme: Perserverance
  • It is that time of the year for feedback from our families through the Youth Truth Survey. We want to hear your voice and this is that opportunity to inform us on what is going well and what needs to be improved. Every year we take a deep dive into the data to make changes to continue to improve our practices and services. The survey takes about 10 minutes and the data is invaluable.
  • Next week we have Spirit Week! We invite students to dress up in the theme for each day to show their school spirit, the winning class will be crowned the new Spirit winners; getting to don the coveted trophy AND will win a Pizza Party!
  • We have a no cell phone policy in school, we understand that some students need to bring a phone for transportation and check-ins with parents for go-home plans, we collect each student's phone and keep it safe until the end of the day.
    • We are not here to tell anyone how to make decisions for their children regarding phone us, technology use, or social media use and wanted to share some resources that might be helpful or informational. Most of our staff are also parents navigating this new age of technology and social media and want to share some of the information that has been helpful for us.
      • Here is some research regarding smartphones and elementary and middle school-aged children.
      • Here is a Podcast that is super helpful in talking about cell phone use for elementary and middle school students.
  • Dental Sealant clinic is 1/8/25 forms are coming home this week.
  • Our Robotics/STEM club has really taken off and we are hoping for some additional help! We need volunteers to help with our Robotics/STEM club each Wednesday from 12:30-3:30pm.
  • We also would love school-wide snack donations, goldfish crackers, graham crackers, and granola bars are all big hits. Thank you!

  • WE ARE SO GRATEFUL for our Volunteers!
  • We are always looking for more volunteers to help in our school. This year we have a new math curriculum and it requires a lot of prep! We also send home snack packs weeks and need help with assembly. If the activities listed below are something that you are interested in, please stop by our office and pick up a volunteer packet. Processing applications takes about 2 weeks so please get your forms in quickly.
