We have made it to the final stretch before spring break! We know everyone is feeling a bit like their batteries are running low, but this is when we pull together. I have been so impressed with our attendance lately, thank you all for helping to get your kids to school on time every day!
Your kids have worked so hard, and we're committed to keeping momentum going this week. We promise to keep them engaged, learning, and of course having some fun!
Thank you for your continued support, your patience, and maybe a few extra bedtime reminders to help everyone show up ready for these last few days. The light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train--- it's spring break! Let's do this!
Announcements:
- PBIS Theme: Social Skills
- Goals:
- I can be a whole-body listener when others are speaking.
- I can attempt to problem-solve or get help from adults.
- I can work cooperatively with others.
- We will NOT have STEM/ROBOTICS club on 3/12 or 3/19 so please plan accordingly.
- 4th-8th grades will have swimming starting on Monday, please ensure your student brings a swimsuit and towel, swimming is required.
- Our attendance is really going up! We will have an attendance challenge each month until the end of the year to help motivate our kids to come to school, our goal is 75% and we are currently at 69% which is an increase from 66%. WE CAN DO IT!
- Spirit Week Next Week, we invite students to show their school pride with our middle school-chosen themes.
- Monday- Dress like your favorite person
- Tuesday- Decades Day
- Wed- Pajama Day
- Thurs- Dress like a teacher day
- Friday- School Spirit Day
- It is that time to renew our Attendance Exceptions for families that currently attend Dorena but are not living within our school boundaries. All families ARE required to turn in a new application. Please see it here.
- For 4th-8th grade we will start our afterschool theater program on March 31st, we only have 20 slots available so it will be first returned first on the list. Registration forms are coming home today 3/14/25.
- Friday 3/21 we will have our March PBIS celebration all students who have less than 3 office referrals and 90% attendance or better will be eligible to attend.
- Our school community is participating in the 2025 Electronic Recycling Competition! We will be going up against 45 Lane County Schools to recycle the most "e-waste" the winner gets $500 to their school and a NextStep Reuse store gift card! AND our bin is here! Please feel free to put approved items in the bin behind our regular trash dumpster. Pick up will be Aril 9th. WE ARE THE ONLY SLSD school participating!
- We also would love school-wide snack donations, goldfish crackers, graham crackers, and granola bars are all big hits. Thank you!
Volunteers
- WE ARE SO GRATEFUL for our Volunteers!
- We are always looking for more volunteers to help in our school. This year we have a new math curriculum and it requires a lot of prep! We also send home snack packs weeks and need help with assembly. If the activities listed below are something that you are interested in, please stop by our office and pick up a volunteer packet. Processing applications takes about 2 weeks so please get your forms in quickly.
- Helping in the classroom
- Attending and assisting on field trips
- Helping with school events such as assemblies, field day, etc.
On the Radar:
- 3/31 Theater for 4th-8th begins
- 4/2 8th Graders field trip to CGHS
- 4/4 Attendance Challenge winners go to DEFY
- 4/11 EARLIER Release day 11:30am
Week of School 3/3-3/7
