Spring break is here, whether you're off to explore new places, binge your favorite shows, or simply catch up on some much-needed, we hope you make the most of this well-deserved pause. As you enjoy this time together, please stay safe, soak up some fun, and remember, a good book is your friend (or maybe a nap!)
We are so impressed with everyone's attendance this month! Thank you to all of you for helping to get your kids to school every on time, we saw a big difference! Let's keep the momentum up for the rest of the year!

- PBIS Theme: Responsibility
- Goals:
- I can ask for help with I need it.
- I can be safe, respectful, and responsible in all areas of the school.
- I can follow directions the first time.
- I can take care of all our school spaces and materials.
- 4th-8th grades will resume swimming starting on Monday 3/31, please ensure your student brings a swimsuit and towel, swimming is required.
- Theater for 4th-8th graders starts 3/31 from 3-4:30, we will have supervision from 2:30-3pm at the school until Theater starts. Only students with approved admission are permitted to attend.
- We have A TIE for our March Attendance challenge between K/1 and 4th/5th, March 31st will be our tie breaker day! Our April challenge will start 4/1 where the class with the best attendance at the end of the month will win a trip to the movie theater!
- It is that time to renew our Attendance Exceptions for families that currently attend Dorena but are not living within our school boundaries. All families ARE required to turn in a new application. Please see it here. Please do this as soon as possible as we are already receiving requests for next year and have had a wait list for the past 3 years for some of our classrooms.
- Garden Club is up and running, Tu and Th from 2:30-3:30pm.
- Our school community is participating in the 2025 Electronic Recycling Competition! We will be going up against 45 Lane County Schools to recycle the most "e-waste" the winner gets $500 to their school and a NextStep Reuse store gift card! AND our bin is here! Please feel free to put approved items in the bin behind our regular trash dumpster. Pick up will be Aril 9th. WE ARE THE ONLY SLSD school participating! We will do a big push the week of our pick up date.
Volunteers
- WE ARE SO GRATEFUL for our Volunteers!
- We are always looking for more volunteers to help in our school. This year we have a new math curriculum and it requires a lot of prep! We also send home snack packs weeks and need help with assembly. If the activities listed below are something that you are interested in, please stop by our office and pick up a volunteer packet. Processing applications takes about 2 weeks so please get your forms in quickly.
- Helping in the classroom
- Attending and assisting on field trips
- Helping with school events such as assemblies, field day, etc.
