It’s hard to believe it’s already May! We’ve entered the final stretch of the school year, a time filled with reflection, preparation, and celebration. This month, we’ll focus on ensuring our students are ready for their next grade level while taking time to honor the incredible growth they’ve achieved throughout the year.
Stay tuned for updates on upcoming events, celebrations, and ways to support your student during this exciting time.
Announcements:
- PBIS Theme: Organization & Time Management
- Goals:
- I can stay focused on a task with break if needed.
- I can complete my work
- I can keep my school materials and personal items organized in my backpack and/or desk.
- Our 5th graders are heading to Outdoor School starting Tuesday May 6th-9th! This is such a fun and awesome opportunity, please make sure your 5th grader comes with sunscreen, appropriate footwear, and a water bottle. 5th graders participating in Theater are exempt from practice for the week and it will not affect their roles or performance (we planned an extra week just for this). Our 4th graders will have a substitute teacher for the week.
- 4th graders will go on their annual fishing trip while 5th grade is at outdoor school May 6th!
- Our May attendance challenge is underway! The winning class will win a trip to the pool and get to have ice cream! For a class to earn a point there can only be one absence and one tardy for the day.
- We are looking at FULL capacity in all of our classrooms next year! This is exciting, all students are REQUIRED to turn in a new attendance Exception form if you would like for your student to continue to go to school here. We give priority for current students but you need to turn in the form. Please see it here. Please do this as soon as possible!
- Mrs. Hannah put together a Dorena SWAG order using Eugene Silkscreen. Order forms are in the office, coming home with kids or you can download it here. Forms and funds are due May 16th so that we can get them in before the end of the year! Thanks!
- ONE MORE WEEK! The Read-a-Thon ends May 9th with forms and funds due the week of May 12th. This year the class with the most read minutes will earn an ice cream sundae party AND if our school reads a total of 5000 minutes as a whole Mrs. Pixton and Ms. Marcia will spend the night on the roof of the school!
- Need some compost for your garden? We are giving away 1/2 a yard of free compost to Dorena Families, sponsored by our Garden Club. It is located at the rear end of our bus round about, and free for the taking. You load and haul, thank you Dorena Garden club for this generous donation!
